Today we finally left Vershinino village and headed north to Arkhangelsk city, where (not in the city itself, but in surroundings) we're going to spend next few days.
But before we left we had to take this shot. This is one of iconic views of Kenozersky national park. Actually I took pictures of it everyday while we were there and this isn't my best shot, but for previous days I chose to publish here some other pictures.
Trees on the left are a part of a sacred grove. The stone on the shore next to them is called the Mermaid stone (of course, because Mermaid has been seen sitting on it). This is something started from heathen beliefs, inherited by Christianity, survived through Soviet Union and alive now. And this is actually the beauty of this national park – it is all about myths, legends, and tales that somehow survived through different times, social systems and religions.
