Pileated Woodpecker by photographycrazy

Pileated Woodpecker

Walked around Sholom Park yesterday and saw several pileated woodpeckers. They are flying aronund large trees and there is little or no light. This is a female, males have a red cheek stripe.
She's a beauty! Great capture. Love to see her feet. They visit our backyard feeder, and are hard to catch.

What a treat. When the berries from this tree http://365project.org/joansmor/365/2019-08-05 ripen we will get a visit from the Pileated Woodpecker who comes in and drives all the other birds away.
