pink water lily

I'm still trying out the zoom on my new camera and captured the reflection of this water lily at the Longstock Water Gardens. I spoke about our visit in the German group and like the German word for
water lily = Seerose.
lovely shot

Very pretty! Nice colors and reflection. I didn't know they came in pink too.

Well I'd say the zoom is working pretty well! And I love German words for things - I studied the language for just 12 months when I was 14, and very little has stayed with me, apart from those glorious long nouns - schriebemachine, bushaltestelle and best of all bustenhalte! Spelling is probably dodgy after all this time!

Yes...love that pink reflection. Lovely capture!

Just a gorgeous waterlily Hazel

@exidia

Your spelling is pretty much on the ball as far as I can see! We were only commenting in German last week how we love the logic of the language including those long compound nouns!

Very pretty!

Beautiful shot. I think water lily is nice in French too but can't remember the word!

@tishpics

Me neither - ah nenuphar - it popped into my head, shades of Claude Monet - think that's right. I'm upstairs on my netbook too lazy to go down for the dictionary to check and no accents on this machine - getting a new laptop tomorrow!!!

@quietpurplehaze Nenuphar, Yes, that's the word! Thank you Hazel!

Onions can come from many countries. I remember I`ve sail/shipped them from Chili and bring them to Holland

Seerose, a beautiful word indeed. In Dutch it's almost the same as in English: waterlelie.
August 23rd, 2013
Beautiful shot, Hazel. I never see water lilies around here.

@rosiekind

It's very hard to get a new laptop without Windows 8 which I didn't want so we have gone to a loclal firm with a good reputation (Novatech - google it) and you can choose your operating system, we are having Windows 7 and the usual 15.6" screen.

Oh that's pretty! Water lilies are just magical.

I love how literal many of the German words are (think one of my favourites is speerwerfen!) This is very pretty you definitely seem to have got the hang of the zoom lens. Have a lovely weekend Hazel.

Like the reflection which looks as though it is peeping out from beneath.
August 24th, 2013
Great lily-pic!
August 24th, 2013
Yep, Seerose = lake rose. Still like water lily and Monet though! Nice pic., Hazel.

@paulaw speerwerfen = javelin throw btw

@ivan

What I found interesting the other day when I decided to learn the difference is that die See (f) = the sea but that der See(m) is the lake - feminists at work?!
August 24th, 2013
@quietpurplehaze Probably! :)
