Poppies at the base of the war memorial near Winchester Cathedral. In the background you can see the statue of a bronze soldier, a memorial to the Kings Royal Rifle Corps.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Paul, thank you. It involved one of my more difficult positions when taking shots - close to the ground - and get up carefully afterwards, hoping nobody is looking!
Paul, you've made me feel a whole lot better this morning as that hasn't happened to me yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (if you were only joking, I still feel a whole lot better.)
@quietpurplehaze I was once found by someone in a public gardens, lying down, on my chest and tum, trying to get in a better position to take a flower and insect shot. As I was jiggling around trying to get a better position (moving from my front, to my side and back again) a well meaning passer-by caught me by the arm and elbow and tried to lift me up. I must have looked like a beached whale struggling to get out to sea or something! I really think that I should have a couple of signs to pin on my back, one which says "Yes. I am taking photographs so please £$*% off and leave me alone!" and the other that says "A little help here, please!"
Such a great scene Hazel, like the people just passing by, really great street shot but with the emphasis on the poppies, goodness hope this makes sense.
@steampowered oh goodness, you have made me laugh so much, there for the grace...............
Nice idea to get a different perspective and it works really well here. And yes, I have trouble getting up from 'ground work' as well - in fact I am so ungainly and likely to fall over in the process that I would never dare do it in public - which means I only do it when I am unobserved and that in itself poses problems if I ever should get stuck!! LOL! Oh the joys of ageing! @steampowered
Love your perspective here Hazel....a lovely idea. I think Pauls idea of a sign sounds good ..if we dare that is!!! Good to see the people in your shot, gives a buzz to the whole picture!!
