I'd taken a few shots of the cygnet on the bank preening itself when I noticed the cygnet in the water swimming purposefully towards us. I quickly took this shot and then took a few steps backwards as I wasn't quite sure what it intended to do next.

Yes, that's a tag on its leg. Yes, a cygnet is a young swan - these ones are quite mature and should soon lose all the colour in their feathers and become pure white swans.
Aw, he's making sure his brother is OK! (I know what you mean. I was chased by a swan once while kayaking! They are incredibly territorial in the spring!) :)
