The lily of the valley has been flowering already in our garden this year for about 2 weeks. It grows beyond the stream in a patch of garden near to the shed. I'm always reminded of a similar but larger patch which grew in my grandmother's back garden in Claydon, Suffolk.
Lily of the valley traditionally symbolises sweetness and happiness; it is also highly poisonous.

Funny you should say that. When I first saw this it reminded me of my Nanna who lived in Yorkshire. Lily of the valley were here favourite flowers. Beautiful shot. Love the water drops on it too.
Very early compared with last year when the first ones appeared on May 4th - another advantage of 365 for me as I can track the seasons by my garden shots!
Fantastic picture! You captured marvelously beautiful lowers in this incredible photo!
I admire and send you greetings from St. Petersburg. Be happy. Alex
A beautiful capture, great focus and detail. (See I can be serious with a nice picture) One question Hazel, did you upset them so they turned their backs to you. (Wink).
Beautiful capture of this nice and very dangerous flower. You know it I`ve read. .
I wonder why a wedding bouquet often are made of this flower ? A secret wish ?
I think perhaps my nana never knew about it being poisonous.

More than likely! They hide among the leaves!
