l = lessons for the photographer

1. Never take anything for granted.

2. Because the geese have always been friendly, it doesn't mean they always will be friendly.

3. When faced with hissing geese:

a) Try not to slip on the muddy bank.

b) Try to retreat with a degree of decorum.

c) Try not to drop your camera.

d) Try to still capture the shot.
LOL Hazel...well worth it all for the shot though :)

Fantastic photo. Fav.

This is a great shot. I love the contrast between the Orange beaks and the blue of the water. I hope you managed to get away from the geese safely.

@teachntravel

Julie, thanks I got away OK - my main concern was not slipping in the mud - didn't want them laughing at me as well!
February 12th, 2015
This is a delightful shot! And I love all your lessons! I'm assuming you survived :) Fav
February 12th, 2015
Well captured..sounds like it wasn't easy?
February 12th, 2015
They have a mean look in their eye this day, hope the fall/tumble didn't hurt
February 12th, 2015
After all that I reckon you need a medal!
February 12th, 2015
Wonderful shot and great story!! They use geese like guard dogs on some farms - they can be very aggressive. So pleased you didn't get hurt - apart from your pride that is!! LOL!!
February 12th, 2015
ha ha. Know what that feels like, we came across two geese on guard duty outside a library when we were travelling and they wouldn't let us in. Had to come back later when they had moved on. They can be really vicious beggars.

@julienne1

Yes, for being 365 stir-crazy!!!!!

@pamknowler @onewing

Yes, I've seen geese in a garden we visited stopping two dogs walking past the lake and the owner had to pick up the dogs to get past - luckily not huge dogs! (It goes without saying that I never take Jinks on a visit to the geese.)
February 12th, 2015
@quietpurplehaze ha ha, wise move.
February 12th, 2015
Haha, great shot. I hope you managed to do all of the above. I would look out for the one at the top of the shot. It has the crazy eyes :)

February 12th, 2015
@craftymeg

February 12th, 2015
Very Beatrix Potter
February 12th, 2015
@neatz

Maybe that's why I wasn't really afraid!!
February 12th, 2015
De Hazel I followed every step with great merriment. Feeling in need of a chuckle today and this fitted the bill perfectly.
February 12th, 2015

LOL at your caption. I like the geese, yet what really took my eye were the fabulous ripples and reflections in the water above them.
February 13th, 2015
the orange feet and beak are wonderful and love how the ripples focus you right to the geese's heads!
February 13th, 2015
