I've always been fascinated by the departure of the hovercraft from Southsea. On this visit I determined to get a shot of it.
Although the hovercraft's trajectory down the beach into the water is well cordoned off, it's possible to get right to the water's edge really close to it.
A sudden blast of cold air and wet spray had my friend, Ellie, and me, scrambling (and laughing) back to the top of the beach.

Aha, Skip, luckily our respective menfolk only had a dog on a lead each and their phones with cameras firmly in their pockets! I have no idea why we should have been so naive not thinking about that spray!!!
Fantastic close up shot Hazel......I can just imagine you both running up the beach laughing! Hovercraft are still a fascinating way to travel over water I think.
Beautiful shot of this nice hovercraft. The funny tale reminds me on : My brother did made once a model of one. On and meeting they ask to show it . He did in a pool. All the watchers around did get wet. Great fun.
