You might imagine from my shot that Sophie is standing outside in the grounds of Hinton Ampner. But she is behind the reception desk where she has what she describes as her 'bread-and-butter' job as a visitor reception assistant and the backdrop is entirely an illusion.
I saw Sophie and another lady with her as I entered this National Trust property and wondered if either of them would like to pose for a portrait. They were a bit busy with customers so I went instead into the walled garden and took a few macro shots, visited the little church, had a sandwich and walked around the grounds.
When I came to leave, all was quiet so I did make my request and Sophie kind of got nominated. (It transpired later by coincidence that the other lady on duty, a volunteer, was no stranger to me as we had been in the same French conversation group some years ago.)
Sophie has recently finished a degree in media studies in Winchester and is a keen photographer. She has her trusty Nikon DSLR and makes documentary films for a local theatre company which are shown before the performance and during the interval. This company specialises in youth theatre and the films which Sophie makes for them have subject matter relevant to the play being performed. She also especially likes taking landscape shots.
Sophie would love to translate her passion for photography into a full-time career.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
You would have lots in common then Hazel....now you would never have known all that if you hadn't asked her! Lovely girl & a great addition to your gallery.
Phil, I'm starting to wonder if my 'sources' will dry up soon - don't want folk to hide when they see me coming! And this young lady and the volunteer had already heard of 100strangers.
@quietpurplehaze they had heard of 100 strangers. WOW . The 100 Strangers group on flickr isn't that active . It has lots of members (worldwide) and photos , but not many active members posting at the moment. The football provides me with a good source, but I did quite a few from the football in my 50 mono portraits series and have grabbed a few on my 100 strangers too !!! Christmas fairs and events might be a useful source
And I remember a 100 strangers' photographer approaching Brother Andrew telling him he was the strangest person he'd seen - don't want too many 'adverts' like that, that's for sure.
They just don't do that! Remember we are British: I've only had a couple of polite refusals with (valid) reasons!
