I'm always surprised how long swans spend preening.
This one was on North Pond yesterday. I'd taken my camera to the vet's with Jinks so I could have a little photoshoot after I'd left him for his op (thinking he might have one or two teeth out, not ten!).
He seems fine this morning, rushing about the garden on the long lead when I took him out first thing, barking (at nothing) and wagging his tail.
He's been ravenous since he got home yesterday. He had lost 10 ozs in the week since I took him to the vet the first time, and since he'd been having to eat soft food.
I had mistakenly thought that a diet of ordinary food instead of dog food had made him a reformed dog but now I know that he is his usual boisterous self and his quiet demeanour was obviously due to toothache.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
What a fabulous picture Hazel! Quite surreal in a way. The dark background really sets the whole thing off! Total Fav! and glad to hear Jinks is back on form.
Hey, thank you - I was standing on the wooden footbridge which takes foot 'traffic' over North Pond. There are two swans and they tend to come up too close but when they were preening the distance was about right. I know white is hard to capture so I set f14. (My portrait lens likes swans as well as people!)
Joanne, thank you,not sure - the vet nurse said to start him back on dog meal today but I thought that sounded too harsh. I might carry on as we are because he could do with losing a bit more weight. I think he finds ordinary food more interesting instead of just gobbling down meal!
Love the swan photo. So special. Fav
Good to hear that Jinks is back to his normal self.
You made me laugh - I had not thought about it but I can echo your sentiments!!
