I was fortunate to be invited by Brother John (whose portrait features in my Haze's strangers' project) to join in a tour he was giving of the Hospital of St Cross and Almshouses of Noble Poverty.
The other participants were young Americans who had travelled by coach from London for the hour-long tour.
Although I already knew the history of the almshouses, I picked up more interesting snippets.
When the tour entered the Norman church this rehearsal was under way for a concert there that evening. I wish you could hear the music.
