Photo 2204
a warhorse and his trooper
This bronze stands in the park at Romsey and was crafted by Amy Goodwin, inspired by the story of Jack Seeley and his horse, Warrior.
It commemorates the role of Romsey in the Great War when Romsey Remount Depot stood on Pauncefoot Hill s.w. of the town.

Most effective in bronze, encapsulating weariness, mud and dirt...only a sliver away from despair.

A wonderful statue. Love the wreath of poppies.
I didn't know much about Jack Seeley and his horse, I only knew it had something to do with World War I.
Thanks to the internet I now know more.

Beautiful image of this statue, Hazel. I loved the book 'Warhorse' and have also seen the Musical adaptation which is very cleverly done too.
