Vicar's Close, Wells by quietpurplehaze

Vicar's Close, Wells

'Vicars’ Close, adjoining Wells Cathedral, is believed to be the only complete medieval street left in England. This significant landmark was designed to provide communal accommodation for the Vicars Choral, who sang daily worship within the Cathedral. This centuries-old tradition continues today and is a unique and much valued part of life at Wells Cathedral.'

info from the cathedral website

Cars are always a nuisance in such shots, two parked here which were a long way up the Close so I was able to clone them out.

Lines, leading lines, patterns, shapes textures.....
What a wonderful image with lovely symmetry and detail all the way to the vanishing point, suites your choice of b&w tones perfectly Hazel:)

Well done on cloning out the cars! Lovely capture. What are the 'chimneys' about? Are they chimneys? They're huge!

@jamibann

Issi, they look a bit like the chimneys at the almshouses in Winchester https://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/a-few-more/2017-05-04
which were used originally but have now been replaced with central heating in the Brothers' flats.
