Brother John featured in my strangers' portrait project. On this occasion I met him in the Hundred Men's Hall making his way to an outside table with a friend and a tray of tea and coffee cake.
We passed the time of day and later I went over to their table for a chat and to ask for a photo. Brother John was quite amenable and I shall take him a copy of this portrait next time I visit St Cross.
He told me that the flower in his hat is from Fiji and given by his daughter. I was pleased to capture his little plait, secured by a red ribbon.
I asked him if he minded me asking how old he is now. He said he didn't mind and told me he is 90.
Ah, may well be, Babs.
Diana, thank you. I admit to getting as much pleasure from composing the narrative as from taking the portraits.
I met one of my strangers again at the weekend . Pics to follow soon
Looking forward Phil!
