On his last ever visit to us my dad brought a brass box, a tea set in purple which he and my mum had had as a gift but never used, and two albums of old photos.
He knew nothing about the photos; Auntie Betty helped me identify two of them, one of which she remembered having had taken in the garden as a child with her family but had never seen. She was excited to see it at last, some decades later.
So here are two of my ancestors, I presume.
If anyone knows anything about the plane I would be interested.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Interesting shot beautifully frame Hazel, its a pity they were not a little more to the left this would have helped with the planes identification, looking at the wing shape, struts and position of the port engine I suspect its a De Havilland DH84 Dragon of the early 1930s see the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srxbC76megc
What a great photo, I do hope you can identify the people in it. I acquired a lot of photos when clearing Mum's house. I have identified most of the people in the photos and finally almost 25 years after she died I am about to scan all the photos and make a photobook of them. Such a shame that she didn't write on the back of the photos who the people were and what year they were taken.
Peter, thank you! I guess that would fit with dates but I have no hopes of identifying the two ladies.
