A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Love the green & reds. I have only ever had one survive for months after the event & then it was no longer red! Apparently in places like Lanzarote they grow like weeds!
Mine has survived from last November too Hazel, now covering it with a black bag for 12-14 hours a day to encourage the bracks to go red again, working slowly!
Wow you have preserved one from last year! Mine always last a long time & I have tried in the last to get them to go red again but it’s hard work....I think you e done great with this one, it has some red leaves! It’s all to do with the amount if light you give them or don’t...it’s quite tricky to work out.
Somehow mine always seem to survive for a few years but then get greenfly and get thrown out. Quite an achievement to keep one alive but the colour in the leaves is the tricky part. I used to shut it in the cupboard under the stairs for 12 hours a night for 6 weeks in September. It does work.Yours does look very healthy.
Thank you all for your comments. I have decided to treat myself, in this year of austerity (!) to another poinsettia Watch this space! Have a good rest of the week!
@quietpurplehaze Yay, good choice! I have actually indulged in a few orders from Bettys now and then and even some Christmas special food from Fortnum and Mason! Not spending it on anything as I am not going anywhere. Hubby spent nothing while sailing for 3.5 months, so I thought why not? A cheer up is in order! Enjoy your twice-as-much-fun extra poinsettia :)
