Rocky Raccoon by radiogirl

Rocky Raccoon

This was the first day that Rocky the Raccoon woke up. He looked extremely emaciated, and it was quite unusual to see him out in the middle of the day. He walked along our pathway and went straight underneath the bird feeder to start eating. He showed no fear and we could walk right up to him and take a photo. In summer we wouldn't see him until late evening.
Finally, this is a sure sign of Spring!!

Thank you for your comments and favs on my high key daffodil.
A great capture against that white background. Hopefully he will now start feeding himself up!

Good sign of spring but not the only animal trying to survive this long winter with persisting snow. Lovely shot. I'm sure he'll fatten up soon.

Funny that you know this raccoon well enough to have named him. :) Nice capture.

Where I grew up, racoon without fear in middle of day meant: go slowly the other direction since you should assume he was rabid. But this fellow looks sleepy -- looking for his breakfast and coffee maybe. Really nice picture.

Poor little fellow ā€” so hungry after a long wait for winter's end. He must've been really famished to come out in broad daylight. That's not the norm for a raccoon.

What a great shot! I'm glad you are letting him eat your birdseed!
