Debated whether or not to canoe this morning as it was right at 0 degrees C. Finally made the leap and discovered this old foundry looking somewhat like a remnant of a Scottish castle along the rivers edge. Because it was so cold the fog was heavy in the early morning, wafting through the mountains. I had many great photo opportunities while paddling, the only problem was my fingers were so cold that it was difficult to play with the settings. Persevered it and was happy with the results which I hope to share this week.
Thank you for your comments and favs on yesterdays photo "Warmth", I really enjoy reading them.
Okay, okay. In the past, I've suggested that you were less than hardy staying at Killarney Lodge vs camping. I take it all back. Canoeing at zero - not sure about that. Your effort was well rewarded. Terrific shot. Love the hint of colour in the background. fav
What an amazing scene - those colors are terrific and the fog really does some magic to the atmosphere - so totally calm. I imagine on the water it was really really cold with that fog - yes, very hard to work your fingers. Looking forward to seeing what else you saw. Fav
Such a beautiful scene. An instant fav! I love the building but what is the fog and reflections in the water in this light pink tinged to the sky and the fog.
Oh wow!! Make that a big WOW! You couldn't have asked for the fog to be in any better place — it's in among the autumn colors so perfectly and out across the water just right, veiling the view of that stone structure just enough to give this image an air of mystery and magic. Fav! most definitely. Hope your fingers have thawed, and thanks for freezing on our behalf. :)
P.S. My boys had toys that looked just like the farming wagons in my picture too. They'd sit out in the yard and watch the equipment go by and then push their little tractors and trailers around just as they'd seen the farmer do. Precious memories for me.
Very cool - and I bet your hands were cold. That's dedication. ;) As we drove to Haliburton the temp was about 1C on Monday morning but then warmed up as the sun came out. First time north this season - might get back up there next weekend if the weather is nice. We've been so busy - just wish the fall season was longer.
