I'm taking part in Wild Arena's July Photo Challenge this month (or at least I'm going to see how far I get with it!) and today's theme was 'monochrome'.
I was in Bridlington this evening for another seabird cruise around Bempton Cliffs. This time it was 'Glorious Gannets' and the boat went out to the north sea and attracted loads of gannets and gulls with mackerel. I got amazing views of gannets diving into the water to retrieve the fish right in front of me. I've also never seen so many puffins before (not even on the puffin cruise I went on once here!). A brilliant cruise as always.
Nice shot Louise. We went there 5-6 years ago, and walked along those cliffs, it is a fabulous place for bird watching. Never did the cruise because of the dogs, but from your description, it sounds pretty amazing! Have you ever been the Farne Islands? Lots of puffins and eiders there too.
I'd highly recommend one of the RSPB boat cruises around Bempton - you go out for 3 hours or so and we always see absolutely loads of birds and sometimes porpoises too. We've been on a lot of these Bempton cruises now - Glorious Gannets, Skua and shearwater, Puffins and each one had been brilliant.
