I walked nearly 3 miles this afternoon round Dovecote Lake and alongside the River Great Ouse. It was lovely although it clouded over and was not quite as nice as this morning. It's always difficult deciding whether to go for a walk in the morning or wait until I've done some of my chores and go in the afternoon. However, I was pleased to watch this kestrel hunting along the north side of the lake. He went up 2 or 3 times and swooped down to catch his prey which was probably a small mouse. They are very majestic birds and I love watching them as they flutter above the ground watching for their next meal.
Thank you for getting my happy robin from yesterday on PP and thank you for your kind comments and Favs - it is always much appreciated. Best on black if you have time
I love this, super image. Fav. Kestrels and sparrow hawks, wonderful. We had a sparrow-hawk in our garden a couple of years ago, he had caught a fat woodpigeon! :)
