July 20th. The mountain train takes us back from up in heaven (Montenvers & glacier) down to the land of the humans. Took this shot at one of t the crossings.
The mountain train track from Chamonix was begun in 1905 amidst opposition by the inhabitants of Chamonix. It is a one track line and at the time ranked as one of the major projects of the century. The first steam train service began in 1909. In 1954 renovation works were carried out and the steam train was replaced by electric trains.

I can see it`s a gearwheel track . Is it that hilly ?
