Re-enactors in German uniforms – I presume that the khaki uniforms are from the Africa Corp. The ‘German’ officer was demonstrating the power of the smaller weaponry. At one time he was firing this automatic rifle and an empty (spent) cartridge hit Christine on the neck and burnt slightly the skin. The guy came over to offer his excuses and said this never happened before and that they always insisted that watchers be at least 3 metres from the demonstration which has always been sufficient. He said that henceforth they would make sure that the distance be increased to 5 metres. Not much of a consolation for Christine, but at least they were polite enough to say ‘sorry’.
All in all, there weren’t many exhibits besides those I’ve shown – a few army landrovers, wireless equipment and small arms. There was also an exhibition of a few classic cars in the Nadur square which, combined with the lovely weather, was ideal for a relaxing morning.
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday’s picture.
Nicely captured Dione, sorry to hear of Christine's burn. I'm surprised you were allowed that close, here we'd be held well back because of the noise alone.
That must have been a nasty shock for Christine!
