Posting a few shots early as I will be away for some days. Hope to be back with many interesting pictures.
This is the belfry of the L-Isla Parish church which is also ranked as a Basilica. The basilica was built in 1580 but was destroyed in WWII and rebuilt in the middle of the 20th century. If you look closely you will see all the light bulbs which cover the stonework which are lit on festa day and other special occasions. There is also one of the bell ringers up there.
Joke: A church had a picnic and invited the entire community to come. The Pastor placed a basket full of apples on one end of a table with a sign saying, "Take only one apple please - Remember that God is watching."
On the other end of the table was a plate of cookies where one of the children had placed a sign saying, "Take all the cookies you want -- God is watching the apples."
Thank you very much for your lovely comments on my previous picture.
