Just about lunchtime the Queen's Baton was passing through Oldmeldrum. Here it is being held by Jim, with his wife Irene and 4 of their grandchildren for a quick photo before he went on his stretch up to the village square. It was quite special knowing some of the people who had been nominated to carry it. Jim has been a badminton coach in the area for over 35 years ...now retired as is Irene who was a great colleague and still a good friend. It was lovely to catch up with her today.
In the background is Meldrum School and one of the high windows is a room where Irene and I worked as part of a team for a few years. She was saying 'Who would have thought that we'd be on the outside for an occasion like this?'
Three good things
1. dry weather for the celebrations
2. Allan feeling a little better....
3. The quietest of Sundays in ages! Enjoying it!
