Had a lovely day visiting Granny in Tain with Susannah. We overlapped with my sister Marjory for a while and it was such a beautiful day for the drive.
Susannah had heard a podcast which mentioned ''The Clootie Well' so on the way home we took a little diversion......it was Not an Attractive Place!!!
When I first saw it, back in late 70s, there was one tree by the well where some old rags ...mostly cotton or wool....
had been hung to bring good luck or something like that.
Now at the plaque by the car park, put in place by the Foresty Commission, there is a path and the trees are cluttered with all sorts of horrible stuff that is never going to decompose- made of nylon, and polyester etc....teddies, padded jackets, and other things I don't even wish to recall. ππ₯π« so Susannah understands why I was not excited about dropping by!! You can tell by her expression that she was not impressed. It could be an attractive feature with the well and a few of the trees telling the story but.....I can feel a lengthy complaint to the Forestry Commission coming on!!!!
Three good things
1. A walk to the glass making shop in Tain.
2. A little while in Dornoch with Granny.....and ice cream....and visit to the Book Shop.
3. A snooze in front of the tennis on TV
.....all three of us πππ...
which was just what I needed for the drive home.
