Donald by sarah19

Donald

He was an elderly gentleman who lived a couple of miles out of town. Mum worked in the Police Station before she married Dad and was concerned about Donald after he had been in reporting some matter. It's a long story but she visited him, cooked for him and her brothers helped him around his little farm. When eventually the doctor came to say he was too poorly to stay at home my grandmother said he should come and stay with them. And so he spent happy months there before he passed away. These were taken one sunny day when it was warm enough to take him outside in his chair. πŸ˜„
My lovely niece was fascinated by Mum's stories and arranged the photos in the frame for Mum recently. We think she'll produce a drama or book using all the stories Granny told her when she stayed with her for a month earlier in Covid times!
Three good things
1. Shared stories
2. Kindness
3. Houses with elastic walls!!

The kindness learnt in the history has, of course, been shown in your own history! These old photos are so precious!

What a dear story. It’s so wonderful your niece was so attentive to your Mum.

Well Donald was blessed with such good neighbours but this does not surprise me at all....your family would be the best Samaritans ever....it has come down through the family!

What a kind family you are part of. I have just been reading all your entries connected with your dear mother. Somehow your pictures were not showing when I was checking 365. I feel terrible to have not acknowledged your great loss. Please know that I am mourning with you over the miles and through the days. Saying goodbye to your mother is a loss like no other. You have been cared for well by friends and family and colleagues, and that helps the sadness but I know you will feel that empty spot in your heart for a long time.
