Sometimes at the wrap party for a show, we talk about which one we've ever played is our favorite. My answer is always the same.
Every new show becomes my favorite. On my first (or second, or fifth) listen, I often don't love it. In fact, on my first (or second, or fifth) attempt to muddle through the book, I often actively hate it.
But every show I've ever played has become my favorite, because every show has given me a chance to grow as a musician. I have no doubts that this particular show, with our tiny little pandemic-restricted pit orchestra of only piano, cello and percussion, will be the hardest show I've ever played. And also my favorite. (Until the next one.)
