What a lovely shot. The eye is so crisp. I have never seen a nest like that. Do you know what kind of bird it is?

These birds are quite common in South Africa. In Afrikaans you call it a "VINK" will search the English name for it. The male builds the nest and the female takes it apart if she does not like it...Woman!

Now we learn. According to my book this is a Southern masked weaver. The male does have more than one wife and it is the male who takes the nest apart if she is not interested!

Great capture of the weaver. Hi Sylvia and welcome to 365. You'll find there are quite a number of South Africans here ;)

@sdutoit A tip for when you reply to someone - hit the reply button or else type their name (user name) with @ in front. Otherwise they don't know that you've replied. Read the tips for new members. You'll pick up a lot of advice. Hope you continue to enjoy 365!
