Drought II

The photo with the sheep in it posted yesterday was taken on the way into Vredenburg, with lovely promising clouds in the sky. A couple of hours later after doing our shopping, we stopped for me to shoot this one on the way home - the clouds have all burned away in the heat. I wouldn't stop for photos on the side of the road driving my car now. Too much sand has blown through the fences and onto the shoulders of the tar roads. I worry I would get stuck in the sand if I pulled off the shoulder. But we were in my hubby's 4x2 "bakkie" (pickup truck) and he can get out of soft sand.
As barren as this looks, it is already starting to "green up" with the few drops of rain we have had. Nature's hopefulness never ceases to amaze me.
Wow, dry as far as the eye can see. I was going to ask if you have problems with wildfires, but it doesn’t look like there is a lot burn.

Can hardly take in the thought of all this - thank you so much for sharing.

@beckyk365 Yes we did have a problem with wildfires - but now I think you are right, there is nothing left to burn anyway.
@islambad In a few months time I will shoot this spot again with these little trees. I'm hoping there will be some vegetation sprouting up again to show you!

This is a familiar image... you can feel the heat an dryness and the tension those two produce. The line of the fence makes it.
