This man was hanging around outside the local supermarket. As I walked by, he asked me for bread and polony so I added a loaf of bread and a small punnet of polony into my shopping basket to give him when I exited the store. I haven't taken any photos for ages - I haven't had the will to do so, and certainly asking strangers has not been something I felt like doing, but after I packed my fruit and veg into my car and was about to leave, I thought about how proud Don was of my photography progress, and my #faces project, so I decided I had to do it in memory of Don, and went back and asked this hungry fellow if I could take a photo. He happily agreed.
You made a courageous decision...and a good one. You made another person happier. If we all did this to just 1 person every day...think how much happier everyone would be.
@s4sayer Thanks Margo. We have so much poverty and so many social problems such as alcohol and drug abuse, it would take a lot to make a real difference. This person's eyes are so yellow I wonder if he doesn't have liver damage and resulting jaundice? But it is not for me to judge or question
I’m so glad you are taking photos again Desi. You are such a talented photographer. And so lovely that you helped this man out - I like that he asked for food rather than money. We have quite a lot of homeless people here who ask for money - I always give food, or some warm socks in the winter.
