Unlike their sleek white counterparts in the next rack, some of these older, more colourful, broad in the beam, kayaks/canoes, don't look like they get taken out all that often
Shot at Langebaan Yacht Club after the AGM today. I decided to retain my membership even though my gut feel has been I won't use it much now Don has gone, but thought it is silly to make decisions too soon.
It sounds a nice place to go for a meal and a drink and see people you met together. And maybe you could takeout one of these for a paddle ☺️ Lovely image.
@narayani Thank you. Yes it is a nice place for a meal and potter around, especially in warmer weather. No I can't take one of these out for a paddle. They all belong to individual owners and some are chained and padlocked. I have a large canoe here at home that Don worked for ages on fixing up for the two of us to go paddling on the Berg River, but it is too big for me to handle on my own and I have to try and sell it. I would probably be able to paddle it on my own, but there is no way I could lift it onto the car roof racks to take it anywhere ...
@seacreature yes it’s the getting to the water that’s the hard bit. I had a kayak I almost never used for that reason, so I ended up selling it. Shame coz I really enjoy the paddling bit!
