Nyala by seacreature

Nyala

Our house that we are sharing with friends at Mabalingwe Nature Reserve has a view of the bush in front. Here a small herd of Nyala are grazing in front of our pool. These are all females and are quite a different colour to the males, and they have no horns. Their male is grazing a short distance from his harem hidden in the bushes. The heavy rain of yesterday has stopped, but it has been cool, almost cold, and very overcast all day so none of us felt inclined to use the pool, no matter how inviting it looked.
It does look inviting. How cool to look out the window and see the bush. So different from Ohio.

@cdonohoue Thank you so much. Yes very different from the little bit of Ohio I saw some 20 years ago when I went to visit my brother and sister in law who were living in Sylvania then.

@anniesue @ludwigsdiana @koalagardens @narayani Thank you very much. It was an absolute treat for me to see wild animals in the bush right in front of us - in their natural environment. I was so excited I went and woke the family up at first light to show Madison the Impala that were there the first morning. I think they were most unimpressed with me. LOL.

@johnfalconer I don't actually know that but I doubt it somehow. They didn't attempt to swim in our pool, and I don't somehow think they use the water holes in the bush for anything more than drinking from, unlike the elephants who love the rivers and water holes for swimming
