Decay 03 ~ The pointless lock. by seanoneill

Decay 03 ~ The pointless lock.

A drab day, so a drab photo to counter the flowers of recent days.

Back to the warehouse that I shot for Decay 02, and this locked door that is protecting.... nothing at all, just the weeds and the sky beyond its rusting hasp and the flaking timber.

The building has no roof, no insides, just overgrown weeds and rubbish. I would guess that the key was thrown away by someone unknown many years ago.

So, those craftsmen, the precision railway and crane part makers are long gone. Perhaps to work in a service industry. Maybe they still make things, maybe they are Baristas, or make tasteless 12 inch sandwiches, or maybe they can direct us to the things that we need but cannot find in a soul sapping 24/7 Extra Supercentre "JG Ballardesque" world of special offers and all day breakfasts and lucky dips.

I'd like to think not.

Aren't I cheerful!
:) Nice textures and good subject

Awesome textures! When I see a locked door, I always wonder if it's meant to keep something in or someone out... or if the person who has placed the lock did it just before he said goodbye to the world. I guess I'm not a very cheerful person either. 8)

@lagerdalek @myautofocuslife Thanks for the comments, I didn't expect many!! Thanks Livia, I appreciate the sentiment, I guess the point I was trying to make is that not all change is good. It saddnes me to see these places where people once worked in a derelict unloved state, and the shining temples to coffee, mobile phones and fast food that now litter our streets. It's only a small gripe though ;)

Wow, I love the blue paint peeling through... amazing textures. You really can't help wanting to know the story behind it. It is saddening to know that something which had such an important purpose was deliberately left to rot, especially saddening to watch it be supplanted by new establishments with little or no soul. :(

Can you say lead paint. Great textures and opposing colors.

Layers and layers of paint and even some moss growing. Really like the POV you shot. Good job!

@reva @stiggle @sailingmusic @fredia Thank you all so much. Was a bit worried that my posturing in the blurb may frighten people off so thanks for being brave!!
