I set out to do something different today but I have been drawn back to the Calla Lily after browsing my Mapplethorpe book some more.
There were 4 or 5 other shots in the frame for today, but in the end I chose this one because of the light on the stem, and the softness of the focus on the flower.
The lighting is good old fashioned natural sunlight and the background is my garden fence 20 feet or so away from the Lily thrown completely out of focus and marginally tweaked in levels. I'm pleased with this one!!
The Calla Lily has now retired, so something different tomorrow. I may have already spotted it in the garden!!
@debsphotos Well it was on my patio table but I have brought it back inside, it will not survive the rain and wind forecast for the weekend. Thanks for the praise, it means a lot.
Sean, while I Iove your lily from yesterday (color) this one just hits me hard. The way the light illuminates the bloom, the stem and the stamen is almost tactile and perfect for this comp. Beautiful work - congratulations.
@zuzana Thanks Zuzana, that i svery kind of you. I have enjoyed doing these shots, they have inspired me. I may come back to them at another time during the year.
This is Gorgeous Sean ...should be framed..I cant wait to see what ele's is in your garden! ...as far as im concerned there is no light like sunlight on your garden and on photo's too!! :)
@ellimae Thanks Ellen, Sunlight can work with you or against you, the trick is knowing :) Thank you for your lovely words, I have to say that I adore this myself, which is rare for me and my own shots!!
