We were in London on saturday and did the touristy bit. Open topped bus tour of the sites. walk down The Mall to Buckingham Palace, Art exhibition, shopping....
This Guardsman drew quite a crowd when it became time to change the guard. I may post one or two more later in the week in my other albums.
Nice composition. That’s a serious weapon he has there! We were visiting Washington DC a few years ago, and as we walked along a fence behind the white house we passed a guard in military fatigues with huge rifle and a muzzled guard dog pacing the fence. He was very friendly, but I found it intimidating. Somehow this type of uniform seems more dignified and less threatening, not to mention traditional. What’s the history behind the hat?
