Ben and I went down to Southampton to with my good friend Pete Brook, to see Southampton's final game of a 46 match season.
To be assured of promotion back to the Premier League after an absence of 7 years, we needed to win. The team were magnificent, and we won 4-0, securing back to back promotions.
So, next season, we will be welcoming Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to St. Mary's Stadium.
I was born in Southampton 47 years ago, and though I haven't lived there since 1980, I love my home city and its football club with all my heart. We have been through so much together. Today was our day.
Sam, my eldest son, who loves The Saints as much as I do, couldn't come to the match because he had Army Cadet Force Parade. Well done him for putting duty ahead of his team.
Thanks to @runningbk for his good wishes earlier today. Cheers, Mike, they were much appreciated. Your team haven't done so badly this week either, so I guess we are both on cloud 9!
For more on a great day, I will be posting in my other albums as well. I liked this shot because of the silhouette. It was shot from the pitch after the final whistle.
@seanoneill awesome - enjoy every bubble. My boys were watching our local team (Stevenage) on the tv then Ieu can't wait for Chelsea's game tomorrow. Have a lovely evening.
