Hydrangea Flowers by seanoneill

Hydrangea Flowers

It has rained incessantly here since mid afternoon.

So tonight's cricket was off, that is 6 games out of 7 for my 2 teams that have fallen to the weather. Aaargh!!

So I have been experimenting in the semi-dark and rain outside using my macro and flash off camera. The things we do for 365!

This is SOOC and nice viewed large.

To those following the baby Blackbirds, they are both fine, I will pop up a wonderful shot of them in the morning in album 2.
This is great! I really like the light and the focus is super.

@roachling Thank you. It has lost some of its vibrance from CS5 to 365, but I am pleased with it.

Thats ridiculous, i don't even have buds yet!! Thought you lived north of me!! Shame about the cricket but lovely macro with the endless wretched drops of rain!!

@fannyb Lol. I bought it at a garden centre a week or two ago, already in bloom. It has been in the garden since then. This time next year it will most certainly not be in bloom!

This is gorgeous the reflective water is perfect though I bet the rain is getting a bit old for you now and you just want to play cricket, it is the right time of year for it.

@hasselhotch Thanks David, we may get a game in at the weekend, but then it looks awful again all next week!!!
May 9th, 2012
So pretty! I just love hydrangeas!!
May 10th, 2012
I like hydrangea! They don't grow here, except in the conservatory where the temperature is controlled. What a beautiful color. Well captured!

Great color and depth of field with the macro. The flower pops right off the page. Yay for you for braving the cold and wet so we'd have a nice photo to look at today!
May 10th, 2012
Beautiful colour and light.
May 10th, 2012
Beautiful, Sean - you give me new courage for the grey days! I find lately that if the sunlight isn't right, I just don't want to take out the camera ... which is hogwash, of course! Really a great shot, this!
May 10th, 2012
Wonderful capture Sean!.....love the light & beautiful glistening droplets! : )

@myautofocuslife Thank you Livia, thanks for reminding me how warm and lovely your climate is ;)
May 10th, 2012
@redsockbluesock Thanks MG, I kept popping back in to look at what I had, but was rather wet and cold by the end of it!!
May 10th, 2012
@danacarruthers Thanks Dana.
May 10th, 2012
@seanoneill If only you could hear my brain sizzling. 8P

@pippajeanne Thanks Pippa I am glad that you like it. Overcast days can work really well when shooting flowers close up. If you shoot in overcast light you lose the messy shadows that can clutter a flower shot on a bright sunny day. It doesn't always work, but often does.

@annbo Thank you Ann, I am pleased that you like it.
May 10th, 2012
@myautofocuslife Somedays I think I can ;)

May 10th, 2012
@pippajeanne No problem Pippa. Good luck.
May 10th, 2012
Lovely vibrant colours Sean - sorry to hear the cricket was cancelled but good news for 365! I haven't ever shot any macros with flash - but now I am keen to try! Lovely shot!
May 10th, 2012
@kellc Thank sKelly. Good luck. Best if the flash is off camera I think.
