Bradley Wiggins, I salute you! by seanoneill

Bradley Wiggins, I salute you!

For the first time in its 109 year history and 99th competition, somebody British looks like they will win the Tour de France. Bradley WIggins has been in front for several days, and compelling viewing it has made too. His team mate Chris Froome (also British) will almost certainly finish 2nd.

I would rather post this after Wiggins has won, but we are off to London this afternoon to celebrate Ben's birthday tomorrow. So, sadly, I will be trying to watch the end on my IPad on the train!

Well done Wiggo, you've already got my vote for Sports Personality of the Year!!!

This shot is of the quick release on my bikes seat pole.

Yaaaaaay! Looking forward to watching the sprint too today. He likes the Jam and dogs too. Ultimate hero in my book.

Now maybe cycling will get the following it deserves in the UK.
I was in Paris last year for the final day of Le Tour, wish I was there today.

Lovely shot, great DoF.

@fueast I thought you'd like this! I see Paul Weller sent him a good luck message yesterday.

@jdonnelly Couldn't agree more Joseph, I have been disappointed in how low key it has been in the UK. Glad you like the shot.

Great DOF Sean, we were hoping Cadel Evans could defend the title but he wasn't even in the hunt! Well done Bradley wiggins!

Yes & such a great feat of sportsmanship, an incredible journey of endurance! Congratulations Bradley....a good old Lancashire lad too!!

Forgot to say well done, this shot is superb Sean!

@kellc Thanks Kelly. Cadel put up a stout defence of his title, and can be proud of his place in history.

@happypat Here, here Pat!

Brilliant Sean! I have had to really discipline myself over the past 3 weeks by not watching the live transmissions and making do with the highlights. It has been fab hasn't it? The stand out memory for me is Brad Wiggins leading the line before Edward Boasen Hagen launched Mark Cavendish for the sprint on Friday! That and the plucky Thomas Voekler with his final mountain stages to get the king of the mountains

@yrhenwr I lack your discipline David. I have been in my office at 7am most mornings so that I could hook up with Eurosport at 3pmish. Friday was incredible, and the commentators even said it was probably one of the most powerful displays of sprinting in the Tour's history. Voekler is superhuman, I would struggle to get up the hill out of our village!!! TBH, I take my hat off to anyone who finishes it, whether they finish first or last!! We hope to get to a stage of the Tour de Poitou-Charentes while we are on our hols in August. Much smaller, but very good nonetheless.

@yrhenwr Agreed I got so excited i shouted at the tv on Friday!

Great shot for an excellent tribute. Being an Aussie, I was hoping Cadel would get up again. Hats off to Bradley Wiggins :)

I love the way your albums capture so much of the tracking of your life, Sean. . .great shot and wonderful focus!

Great shot Sean. Team Sky was incredible this year, and the yellow jersey in front of the pack on Champs-Élysées, that's just incredible. Personally I would have liked to see Hushovd back in the green jersey but he's sick and won't compete in the Olympics either. Great to see Edvald did a great job both helping Cavendish to stage wins and Wiggins to victory. Can't wait for the Olympic race.
