Great Britain has won 6 Gold Medals today at the Olympic Games and now has 14 Gold, 7 Silver and 8 Bronze medals so far in the London 2012 Olympics to take us to 3rd place in the medal table.
Every single athlete at the games is a hero. They can say they are a true Olympian. Michael Phelps has become the most successful Olympian ever, and richly deserves his place in history.
Today though, forgive us Brits a little triumphalism. The slogan of our games is "Inspire a generation" and all our athletes and medal winners, I am sure that you have done just that.
Now for a confession. This is a photograph of the CD cover to "Gold, the best of Spandau Ballet."
I knew that I bought it for a reason back in the last millenium.
