The Plough with Shooting stars

The skies were very clear on several of our nights in the Vendee.

I tried my hand at long exposure star shots. I've had to clean thi sone up a lot to remove a lot of the other stars around it and show The Plough (or Big Dipper) to best effect. I will put the SOOC shot up in another album.

This shot was taken at the tail end of the Perseid meteor showers, and I was luck that when I revied it there were 2 shooting stars in the shot. We sat outside on the 13th August at about 2am and saw about 20 shooting stars in 20 minutes!

Though my exif info suggests this was taken on the 16th, I hadn't adjusted the clock, it was actually taken on the 17th just after midnight!

Very nice shot! Stupid question: What is an SOOC?

@hjv Hi, it means Straight out of Camera, ie no processing.

@seanoneill Thanks! Any place where I can see the SOOC of this picture? I'm wondering if I will give it a try.

@hjv Yes, just look over at my second album for the same date, it is there. The trick is finding somewhere nice and dark with no light pollution, ie nowhere in England!!
