@bobfoto You know, we just looked in a book, and thought Damselfly, then I read Livia's comment about the eyes and youra about wings and thought Dragonfly!
great shot and colours - i would have said a chaser for this one - you've got damsel files, chasers, darters and hawkers - and if this was England, I'd be asking about male common chaser.
Fascinating and beautiful creatures, lovely capture Sean! I went to an Essex Wildlife Centre last weekend and took some dragonfly shots, they are very rewarding to photograph and not quite so fleeting as butterflies!
