Every year the church in Hathern has a Christmas Tree Festival, where members of the public and local businesses and organisations are invited to decorate and display a Christmas Tree.
This year, there are 105 trees in church. From friday until sunday, anyone can visit the church to view the trees.
Every year, Rebecca decorates a tree in memory of her sister Victoria, who sadly died at the age of 39 back in 2008. This year Rebecca decided to decorate her tree in the style of a Victorian Christmas tree.
We all miss Victoria very much, and this tribute to her memory is a very big positive in our lives.
The light was very low in church and this was shot after dark.
The final part of the tradition is that this will become our family christmas tree tomorrow when we take it down on monday.
Thank you for putting my New Covert shot on the PP, it was very nice surprise to see it there yesterday.
what a lovely tribute. Is it a live tree or artificial, the majority of the live trees in Australia are radiata pine which are not really a pretty shape like this, but the smell of the tree in the house is the smell of Christmas ( picking up pine needles off the floor for weeks was a common Christmas activity)
It's a wonderful tradition that your family has, albeit for a sad reason. But what a beautiful way Rebecca has decorated it. I love it in that style and that you have such wonderful trees that you can use. What an amazing sight that must have been in the church with 105 trees - it doesn't look from your other shot like it's a very big place, so I'm wondering how all the viewers manage to fit!
