Sam, Ben and I went to see Southampton at Aston Villa today.
We won a relegation battle by 1 goal to nil, and our goal was a hotly disputed penalty. Having seen it on Match of the Day, I would be aggrieved if I was an Aston Villa fan, but I'm not, so I will take the penalty, the goal and the three points.
Here is a shot taken on my P+S from about 120 metres away of the penalty being tucked away by Rickie Lambert, who has scored 29 out of 29 penalties for us in 3 seasons!
It was good to catch up with the Northern Saints fan club in a very unsalubrious pub before the game, and see my mate Pete that I have been going to games with for nearly 20 years now.
Villa Park is a proper football ground, and I always enjoy watching football there.
@jackie8 Thanks Jackie, lad's day out at the races next saturday, rugby (minority sport!) the week after and footie again the saturday after :)) before you feel sorry for Rebecca, she is skiing in Austria for 4 days during the middle weekend!
@seanoneill - you took the words right out of my mouth! Are you not a skiing fan then Sean? I used to ski but lost my nerve a few years back..... I love the whole apres ski thing though!!!
