Solarised cool dude by seanoneill

Solarised cool dude

I posted the original of this guy walking up Regent Street in London several days ago.

I am a big fan of the Man Ray solarisation technique, and when I processed the original shot in this way I was delighted with the outcome. Here is the original shot.

As an aside, I am reading Man Ray's autobiography at the moment, and would highly recommend it to any lover of his work, or anyone interested in the cultural history of the 20th century.

Thank you all for the great response to my 76 Starlings shot yesterday, it mad e the home page and the PP overnight, which I'm chuffed to bits about.

A lot of my shots would be best viewed smaller, but this guy is best viewed large!!
Pretty funky...I like solarization too, so fun.

Solarisation?! I love this, works brilliantly here, but it's a strong image anyway and would look good whatever you did to it I would think! Definite fav... Must try this technique if we ever get our computer up and running again!

This is probably my favorite edit of all time- so very right, like you were able to photograph just the aura put off by this man and this place. You rock, Sean.

Thank you. Aha! I've seen this effect elsewhere and wondered how it was done. It's good to know. It certainly does bring out the Mr.Cool aspect of this character and I see what you mean about the shadow where his foot's about to hit the pavement too. Great angle, btw.

@dulciknit Thanks/ Solarisation was invented by Man Ray, his profile portrait of Lee Miller is one of my favourites of all time. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=man+ray+lee+miller+soalrised&FORM=HDRSC2#view=detail&id=4D129F8CBF8AE3A4A0E3EDFF1C59052202609060&selectedIndex=0

Oh, that's beautiful! I like the way the, well it looks like embossing or a watermark effect adds a three dimensional aspect to the image.

@dulciknit There ar every few styles of photo where I think, I wish I had been around then, but I make an exception for Man Ray's shots of Lee Miller. I have this shot as the poster from the exhibition hanging on my landing.

Yes the original was a great image already. Love the shadow and glow on that foot too. Thanks for posting the links. Great that you have this somewhere to view too and its not just tucked away on the computer.
