England 1 Australia 0 by seanoneill

England 1 Australia 0

A very enjoyable day at Edgbaston yesterday watching England hammer Australia in their first encounter of 13 this summer. This is the view from our seats right by the England team balcony.

England posted 269/6 in their 50 overs before restricting Australia to 221/9 and winning very comfortably by 48 runs.

It is always "nice" to get one over on our old friends and adversaries.

Roll on the Ashes, 10th July cannot come soon enough!!

@fishy 1 0 Andrew

great shot and a great win

Great shot. If I followed cricket I might be up for a little friendly banter. All I can say is the Aussie press are having a field day slagging off the aussie team.

@theboxman Thanks, it was a great day.

Great shot, love all that sky.

@dtigani Thanks. I bet they are, having been on the receiving end for a good 20 years of my adult life when England were poor and the Aussies were unbeatable, the last few years have been good to us. The banter is one of the best things about it, because the Aussies I know love to give it out and can take it back too.

@seanoneill lol. Nice shot though :)

@ozziehoffy Ta, if you don't want to know the score for the rest of the summer, best look away from my project now for about 3 months, there are going to be a lot of these!! I'm looking forward to Andrew looking in though.....

We will give you that one, Sean. just lulling you into a false sense of security. A long way to go yet!
I have some English friends from Birmingham coming out for the British and Irish Lions Rugby tour next week. I'm sure there will be some good banter there also ;-)

@fishy Cheers Andrew, and a helluva job of lulling they did ;-) I am expecting The Lions to roar, wish I could be in 2 places at once! Loved the banter with Mitchell Johnson yesterday, it was brilliant, and he is a top bloke for taking and giving it back to the crowd. Enjoy the rugby, it's going to be close I think.

@seanoneill @fishy Oh no... I look forward to stirring the pot!!!

I would fav this shot except for the 'hammering' remark - hahaha just kidding it's a FAV for me :)

Love the perspective. It's so complicated... I just don't 'get' cricket - much to my husband's dismay!
June 9th, 2013
Result! Long may the success continue. Love the perspective , the clouds seem to be moving pretty fast.

Great B&W :)

cool whooshy
June 9th, 2013
Fantastic sky and I like your choice of composition with the sky taking the majority of the frame. Works well in b and w.
June 9th, 2013
It was a good result! Didn't watch the whole game on TV - didn't realise it clouded over quite so much. Did they lose any time to rain or bad light?
June 9th, 2013
@gooner46 no, the sun it shone on the team Chris. The sky is darkened by a graduated filter in silver Efex pro
June 9th, 2013
love the high contrast - great skies; ours have been grey and drab all weekend
June 9th, 2013
Good use of wide angle.
June 10th, 2013
This is awesome - love the wide angle and the lively clouds!
June 10th, 2013
wow - only just seen this - fabulous b&w - great clouds
June 10th, 2013
@seanoneill Let's hope it continues - can you make any more games?
June 10th, 2013
@gooner46 cheers Chris. I've got tickets for the final too, and all 5 days of the Trent Bridge Test, then Edgbaston and the Rosebowl for the Edgbaston ODIs. I don't like cricket, I love it!!
