Hurst Spit ~ 2 by seanoneill

Hurst Spit ~ 2

An unconventional crop I know, but I hope that you agree that it works, if only to print off as a bookmark!!

Here is my more conventional shot of these two people at Hurst Spit.

I like this - daring crop, nicely spotted. It's probably just me but I would want to straighten the horizon.

Cool creative crop!

@johnl Thanks. I have a simple rule with horizons. Straighten if it was straight and I shot it wrong. If not, leave as is.

@johnl ...but I hear what you say.

A great crop - no question. More importantly, it's perfect for the capture -- it's part of the composition. Brilliant!

I love this crop - but I do like the unconventional - another FAV. So glad your gorgeous b&w Stonehenge made PP - absolutely brilliant photo.

This is very clever and very successful. It is quirky which I always admire - can't beat a bit of originality. has to be a Fav.

Normally I dislike crops not sing the standard length/width ratio, it's like some composition error needs to be hidden. This is one of the exceptions were the crop works fantastic. Very powerful! fav!

You can do no wrong. You seem to be able to come up with inventive, unconventional stuff that captures people's imagination. I'm not sure I would want to hang this on my wall, but as you suggested, it would make a heckuva gorgeous bookmark.

IT WORKS!!!

Definitely works for a bookmark. It reminds me of a vertical shot that I took in a photo shoot a couple of weekends ago; curious what the family thought of it; I thought it was cool. :-)

You don't see many panoramics in the portrait mode - this one works really well.

Love this, it's the crop that does it for me.

I like this very much. I think the crop emphasises the layers in the shot and I'm a sucker for small figures in great open spaces, the concept always makes me thnk of how small we are in the scheme of things. Fav.

@dulciknit Thank you Alison, that is why I shot in this style very often, so you have made my day :)

That's good, I'm glad. I like to do this too, for the same reason.
