Ben and his Baritone by seanoneill

Ben and his Baritone

Ben plays the Baritone Horn. It is like a small Euphonium. It is a battered old instrument that he has, but I think one day the bank of mum and dad will pick up a brand new shiny one for him, though he'd probably ask for a Les Paul instead!!

He is in Stage Band at school and Hathern Brass Band (Youth and Training sections), and studying for his grade 5 and his Music GCSE. While I type he is in the boys den twanging away on his guitar playing Nirvana's "come as you are".

Here is a shot I took of him playing earlier. I was trying to get a real high contrast metallic look to the shot.

We've had a quiet day thus far, but are heading off to see Leicester Tigers v Ulster in a crunch match this evening. Come on Tigers!!
Great detail here when you look past that lovely shine....you can see all the little grooves on the piston things....( I don't know the correct name! )
Good for Ben...learning an instrument can give such pleasure & benefits enormously on their concentration & school work.
This is a lovely sharp photo.

cool high key effect on this - makes the valves and pipes look like the sort of image you see of motorbikes

Wonderful shot......I love the composition, high key and processing :-)

Great high key processing Sean, I really like how Bens hand is barely discernible.
Shame about the result, reads like a good game.

@bluefirebucket cheers Mick. Yes a very good game, revolved around 2 big moments. Great atmosphere, we've just got home. Is your op this week?

I like the contrast. Sorry about the match result - it was close!

Real high contrast metallic - you've cracked it. Brilliant.

@dh thanks, the best team won, and Tigers aren't good enough to win the cup this year. Great game though.

Super high key. Good memories, I used to play althorn and french horn in my youth. I was never any good, but I really enjoyed the fellowship.

Yeah, op is on Thursday all being well, expect pic of bandaged leg at some point ;)

Super shot - love the processing. Brass Bands are marvellous - my grandson plays the trombone (courtesy of the bank of grandparents). There is a brass emporium in Totton - an absolutely terrific store, the size of a supermarket - well worth a visit. http://www.hayesmusic.co.uk/

Love this detail study. Great angle, shapes and processing.
Don't think Les Paul does Baritones ;-)
All the very best to Ben in his musical pursuits. Music is a wonderful form of communication.
