Clipstone Colliery ~ 5 by seanoneill

Clipstone Colliery ~ 5

On tuesday we took a trip to see Clipstone Colliery up close.

There is a huge perimiter fence around the place, but I managed to get a couple of shots through the fence to post in my 2 main albums for the days shots.

After these shots we popped to Rufford Abbey. We had never been before, but it is a lovely place, with lts of photo opps among the old buildings (watch this space), some great statues in the park, and a lovely array of craft shops. I was lucky to see an exhibition of a local photographer called Helen Platt-Hawkins who was in attendance, so we had an enjoyable chat about photography and I bought a very good print of hers.

love the sky and composition in this shot

Love the strong contrast in the sky and the composition. Your last few photos you've uploaded have all been great.

That's a sky !

I like this much better than the vertical. The sky is just as dramatic, and doesn't overwhelm the machinery. Super B&W subject. Another fav.

The sky almost looks like its about to start swirling round the machinery.

Brilliant detail - love the wide angle lens effect.
I've been to Rufford a few times; you're right about the photo opportunities and the craft shops!!

I love the juxtaposition of the industrial and the rural (I briefly lived in Eastwood, Notts and now wish I was more into photography back then)
