Friday 21st February completes a year of black and white shots for me in my main album.
Now it isn't strictly a year, because I haven't taken a shot a day, my guess is that is somewhere between 40 and 50% taken on the day. I have used this past 12 months to try and see if a style would evolve in my work, and I consider myself content with where I have ended up today. I don't see colour returning to my main album anytime soon.
Whether you have travelled with me for the whole year, or are a more recent friend, I am grateful for the company. Thank you all.
This shot is taken on a walk we had around Newark on friday. What a lovely town centre, I must have 20+ shots from an hours walk to use over the next few weeks. I liked the shadows across the brickwork and the strong lines of the doors and windows. Every door is a different colour, so I will post the colour version as well.
Congratulations on a year of black and white, Sean. I have enjoyed your main album and you have inspired me to shoot way more b&w than I used to. Keep up the good work!
great light and shadows here - interesting that you have completely moved to b&w - I find I use it more and more. My first year here I deliberately made myself put a shot in b&w a week otherwise I never used it, but now when I check it's rare I haven't already put a lot in b&w anyway
Even with the colored doors, this is a great shot. The shades of black to white, the detail, the shadows -- I think I like it better in BW. Also must tell you that your Newark is a bit more picturesque than ours!
Congratulations on a whole year of b&w. Although only a recent follower, I'm really enjoying your work. Particularly like the shadows of the branches in this shot.
Thank you David, I am humbled. It has taken me 48 and a half years for anyone to say that, and I have to confess I had to look it up, but I am truly honoured by your comment.
Your b/ws have been great, certainly achieved a style. This captures the feel so well and shadows enhance it too. Definitely what David said, I had to look it up too although I felt I knew what it meant!
