Loughborough backstreets ~ 42 by seanoneill

Loughborough backstreets ~ 42

On the corner of Swan Street and Greenclose Lane, the Hobgoblin pub in Loughborough closed recently. It has become very run down.

Previously known as The Black Lion it has been for sale for a few years, but at a silly price.

A very busy day ahead of a 3 hour First Aid course at Trent Bridge this evening. My First Aid certificate has lapsed, so I have to attend the course even though I only have one more summer left as a cricket coach.
Another cracking B&W shot, Sean. One of my favourite ales is also called Hobgoblin. You can buy it in bottles but better straight oot the tap ;-)

Says volumes about society when we have to board up windows with metal grills these days. :(

I love its name! Nice capture!

This is a story we see here a lot as the population decreases in rural towns. B&W is a good choice.

Oh yes! I love it (of course!). What kind of a name for a pub was that though? It's the name of a beer not a pub! :-)

I know it is one of your photos as I scroll down! Great addition to the portfolio. I didn't now about the umpiring - have you posted photos? I am sure the First Aid course went off successfully. Fav

@gooner46 I've coached kids cricket for about 10 years now, but this is the last season. I'm getting too old and have too many other things I want to do. Will look back on 3 great tours to Hampshire and the IOW and getting my lads to the County Final a couple of years ago.

@seanoneill Some of those pix are fab. I wish they still had sea planes here. :)
Humphrey is coping by sitting on top of the oscillating fan. It makes me laugh every time I turn around and see him. ;)

@humphreyhippo Absolutely, not all progress is positive. :-) Good on you Humphrey, wish I had a fan in my office, too much clutter prevents it!
